Is the trade channel evil?
I'm wondering this, because most of the people I've seen selling things do everything they can to not use that channel. Somewhat confusing. I've found that it works better than screaming "W TS OMGLEET ITEMZ WIZP ME PLZXORZ."

<sarcasm> Yes, the trade channel is the spawn of SATAN! And if you use it Hell will open on Earth and we will all DIE!
NEVER USE THE TRADE CHANNEL!!! </sarcasm> Basicly people are dumb as hell and refuse to use the trade channel because it "Their text blends in too well." or "People normally have the channel off." Yes I'm going to have the trade channel off, UNLESS I WANT TO F'n BUY OR SELL SOMETHING!!! Now they infect the local channel making it completely useless to do anything in so now THAT channel stays off most of the time... Add all that to the fact that Henchies > PUG's and everything just sucks in general... Welcome to the world. |

i think anet made it so when you type "wtb" or "wts" it automatically posts in the trade channel. to get around this people have started spacing the letters differently, using periods and other methods. this might explain some of the bizarre W TS instances you have seen.

More complaining about people not using the trade channel. Yes it's annoying, but by a similar token, there are many many many threads where people have talked about this.

The reason is that the trade channel color is dull and not very bright.
The chat channel is very bright and easy to notice. If they were swapped the colors around i dont think people would avoid the trade channel. Also if the last say 5 lines of spam r all in trade and u put 1 that isnt then its very noticable. But yeah very annoying. |

The trade channel killed my mother and raped my father. It's da debble.
Some jackhole was spamming "w t b -50 cesta..." every 5 seconds last night. At least I taught a few people how to use the 'ignore' list. I about peed myself when I warped out of that town to ToA- a DIFFERENT idiot was spamming for the exact same thing. Do they really think pissing the whole town off will get them their item? |

It's just the farming guilds with their 1000 monk/w bots, one gets banned, they have another 2 through and packed with SoJ, looking to go.. hence, always needing new -50 cestas.
I never ever ever, sell them jack. |

The real question is, why even GO to Droknars or LA unless you want to buy/sell somet? In the last week my ignore list on both my accounts have very nearly filled up (one already has). Emote spamming, i shouldn't have to filter it just to shut up 2 retards spamming '/doh' twice a second. Trade, what if i'm looking for a good deal? I'd rather be able to see it than have to turn it off to avoid the mass 'WTS ecto 6k'. All chat, i need a group, stop telling me to turn it off! |

Even if they make auction houses it wont eliminate the WTB/WTS spam. WoW has auction houses and there still is plenty of buying and selling spam in towns .

Didn't know Anet put an automatic filter. Pretty futile, like Viagra -> V1agra -> V1'a gra, and so on (I know, it's cialis, but thunderbird anti-spam works quite well, I'm not up to date anymore). The true spammer (which should be a class of their own will notice and circumvent in a matter of moments. Good point is, if you're really looking for a deal, turn general off and trade on : you'll get either (hopefully) honest people who are trading in the appropriate channel, or the not-too-sly type who didn't notice the redirection. |
